The Real Deal

Classic 70s Drums comes down to one word: AUTHENTICITY. Recorded in legendary studios, The Village Recorder and Boulevard Recording (Producer's Workshop) using The actual vintage microphones, The actual analog 70s consoles, and The actual vintage drum kits. With engineers Ken Caillat and Marc Daniel Nelson, this is as close as you can get to stepping into a 1970s session.

The Village Recorder

Classic 70s Drums was recorded and mixed at LA’s legendary The Village Recorder, which Ken built to record Fleetwood Mac’s Tusk. We recorded these drums using the same vintage API console Ken used to record Fleetwood Mac's Rumours and the same Neve Ken used to record Fleetwood Mac's Tusk album.

These drum sounds immediately invoke the 1970s because we obsessed over every last detail.

No other drum library comes close.

Boulevard Recording(Producer’s Workshop)

The second studio used in Classic 70’s Drums is Boulevard Recording, formerly known as Producer’s Workshop. Tons of classic albums like Pink Floyd's The Wall, Steely Dan’s Aja and Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours were recorded in this very special room. For Classic 70’s Drums, we utilized the live room as well as the ultra dry iso booth.

When I was in college I didn't have a drum kit. There was no way for me to play or record drums… Now that I have my own studio and record drums in lots of great spaces, I still use Trigger to make my drums sound their best. It's truly the ultimate equalizer.

… As a set of high-quality samples for drum replacement these are the win. There are 3 separate files for each sample… The kicks are great… The toms are spectacular… The snares are excellent.

Easy to use. Great drum sounds. I add a duplicate track and mix half natural sound and half trigger sound. Makes the drums sound amazing!

Trigger 2 is the best drum replacement plugin. It's a staple in any serious rock mixer's arsenal.

Using SSD5 mainly with my E-Drums (Alesis Crimson II). Sound quality is amazing and the articulations are great. Overall it does a great job, and especially the mapping that matches my E-Drum.

It's really impressive how good those samples sit in the mix just by loading them into your session and without even touching an EQ or compression. If you're doing a lot of rock, pop, metal — modern stuff where you need punchy, in-your-face drums — Steven Slate Drums 5 won't disappoint you.

... I have used Trigger myself the last few years and I'm really pleased with the result.
